Linux and BSD support

A while ago I wrote this article about what should happen for creating a better local market for the IT industry.
Meanwhile, I started my own company to do consultancy and support for Linux and *BSD systems.

And it seems there is already a market for this where I live.

At the speed with which things are developing now, my company should turn a proffit and get me a decent income within 6 months from starting it (actually, it is already getting close while only in the 2nd month of its existence)

So what do I offer?

  • Consulting for choice and implementation of those systems for server, desktop and network infrastructure use
  • Security checks and consulting
  • Maintenance and upgrades for the mentioned systems
  • Consulting and development for custom versions of FreeBSD
  • Customized and optimized pre-built packages for FreeBSD

Especially the consulting and maintenance/update services are finding customers quickly.

My background includes almost 10 years of use and support of both systems, starting with FreeBSD in the early 2.x days, and with a 0.9 version of Linux (Snow distribution)

Over the last 5 years, I have built several servers and firewalls based on either system, both for commercial and hobby use. I have had fulltime employment doing so.

Things changed a bit after september 2001, the company I was working for did not manage well, they employed over 25 people back then, and only 3 now.

A troublesome jobmarket, and a wish to do something with a long existing dream of independance, made me start my own business, initially working as a freelance consultant.

Time will tell, but so far this seems to be the right choice, and everything I encounter is telling me this market is growing rapidly

To me, all of this is good reason for the EU to encourage this market, it serves its local population well, is economically viable and provides for local jobs without seeing most of the money those jobs generate leave the continent.

Are you located in either The Netherlands, or in the Brandenburg area in Germany and do you need such services? Or are you interested in cooperating with me on this? Contact me now.
